A Story to Tell.

This is abit creepy, stare at the clouds for a while and you’ll see it moving to the right.
Try it.

Momo Monster
Thursday, July 20th, 2006Darjeeling, an enchanting hill station far up north of India.
…where the finest of momos are served.

*momos are dumplings stuffed with peppered mince chicken and finely chopped coriander leaves. There’s more to it than just the ingredients!
Kolkata Giveaways
Monday, July 17th, 2006India’s mystery to the “occasional” powercuts.

If there’s anyway to mark your territory (without the hassle of a govt. licence), paint it.

I love Indian Food.

Killer Kebabs!

Perspective
Sunday, July 16th, 2006Udaipur, India.

The whole city is gorgeously glazed with white marble, laced with a royal blue lake.
I can’t speak on equal tone for it’s people, the host of my guesthouse was just after my fat tourist wallet.
It’s a Sign.
Sunday, July 16th, 2006India
Along the winding road up to Darjeeling. And yes, I’ve got mile and miles to go…

After being caught in between two dead bodies in Benaras, this misspelled sign had quite a literal impact. This was in Udaipur.

Techno Craft

In light of social entrepreneurship, designer Pedro Alegria introduced USB flash card design to the local craftmen in Sao Tome e Principe, a West African country. All of whom had never seen such gadgets let alone acknowledge the use of a thumbdrive. This is quite unlike the aged old quest to bridge the digital-divide, rather an innovative way to tackle some serious unemployment rate. Kudos to Pedro!

“… as a lesbian socialite.”
I’m not the comic geek type but this is worth a read, considering that DC Comics sued New York art gallery last year for housing an exhibition of watercolours featuring Batman and Robin in “intimate” positions.
Did You Ask For It?
Tuesday, July 11th, 2006
I once wrote “India would truly be a magical place if only 99% of its men practise ogle-discretion.”
Blank Noise Project seeks to recognize Eve Teasing as sexual harrasment rather than a mere invitation to please the eye. A woman is raped for every half an hour (in India) and most of the charges were left acquitted on the basis of “she was asking for it.”
“…We question, defy, and attempt to put an end to the argument that women ‘ask for it‘. To establish ‘asking for it’ as a mere excuse for sexual harassment, we are asking all women to send in one garment that they wore when they were eve teased.”
In support of the project, women in Bangalore have taken a version of their own campaign to reclaim dignity by wearing t shirts with slogans such as “Y-ARE-U Looking At Me?” while they stand in groups, staring right back at the public.
If I had known how bad it was, I’d have printed a shirt that goes “You look really stupid LOOKING (at me) like that, really.“before landing myself in India then.
Mac Still Life

Contemporary art has taken a literal seat in Gautam Rao’s studio. Decades down the road, these will go for vintage value!
It’s quite a beauty though some hard Van Gogh fans might beg to differ.
Quite an idea for my “Macbook Pro Fund”.
Pass the salt please.
Friday, July 7th, 2006The vases equivalent for art living, where you store your salt&pepper is probably the next best indicator of self-sophistication. Now have your food pepper-ed in style!
I’ve spotted these racial-harmony-figurines for a dollar per pair in Bangkok but my vote goes to The Taste of Talking by designer Henk Stallinga. The shakers are moulded after the ear-and-mouth pieces of a ‘vintage’ phone. I want them! Brilliant isn’t it.
